The new Snapbridge allows raw downloads now. Perhaps it works better now.ĭownload pictures - I don't use this, no experience.
I didn't really like the GPS tagging, it didn't update the location as fast as I was walking around, so multiple photos had the same location tagged.
(I normally have bluetooth off.)Īutolink - for GPS tagging the photos, and downloading 2 mp jpgs. Launch Snapbridge, it asks to turn on bluetooth: okay. I don't normally have a need for remote shooting. Your question got me inspired to test the Snapbridge some more. I now have the R10 from an ebay seller and it works great.īut as others will tell you, there are several other options that work well. The T10 is a lot like the ML-元 so they make a really small package.
But it is quite small and very efficient to use. Some people don't like the WR-R10 because it sticks out the side of the Zs and worry that it will get somehow broken off. But now that the kit is available, separate purchase of the WR-R10/T10 should become available. But the Z6/Z7 cannot use the A10 so it would be wasted money. Now B&H has announced that they are available in the Nikon kit that includes the WR-A10 (ten pin connector). I got it because the Nikon's WR-R10/T10 were not available new for several years. The receiver connects to the Z6/Z7 via a cable and can be attached to the hot shoe but I let it dangle since I use it with my SB5000. I got and use the RNF4 made by SMDV and it works well. You should get a number of different recommendations for other DPR readers. Yes, preview in real light and in real time (but with a very very small lag).ĭo the two part systems that work on my D810 also work with Z series?īest would be the simple ML-元 alas. Or preview the image like in the viewfinder, in real time? This means you have to "preset" in detail your camera settings before using the WiFi for the shot. Then you have to press the app release button on the phone screen to release the shutter. Through WiFi camera, settings are just basic: PASM, Speed, Aperture, ISO, Expo Comp, and focus by taping the phone touch screen. Perhaps the smart phone lets me adjust settings as well? What I especially appreciate is it gives me an 5.2" screen (the size of my screen phone) to better check my frame for details and framing before shooting. Obviously the WiFi connection can be used in many other ways. Here to catch the following pic on a building site some days ago: But extensively use the WiFi connexion for building/architecture documentation shots.
Seems like Wifi is way overkill for simple shutter trigger.
Never had any problem/cut after pairing at first the phone with the camera (easy step). Perfectly reliable with my Samsung on Android, even for a 2 or 3 hours session.
You can select in the app settings if you want or not to download (2MP max) the actual shot. I've read that the shutter can be triggered via a smart phone and wifi but the camera assumes you want the images sent to the smart phone (argh!). Never used ML-元 (only currently use the MC-DC2 cable remote switch when needed). Not sure about the "Free Wave Micro" that I use with the D810 (a 2 part system, receiver and trigger).Ĭan't help here. What do I need in order to trigger the shutter remotely? I've read that the ML-元 that triggers my D750 so reliably does not work with Z series. Currently shooting D750 and D810 but planning for Z series. I shoot in studio tethered to a Macintosh running Capture One.
